Despite the best efforts of IT organisations, unplanned events such as unsuccessful code upgrades can still cause unscheduled downtime.
The backup service is a system that operates on a secondary network interface. This secondary connection interfaces with the Konnex backup network, utilising access control lists to access a specific backup server.
Backups are run on a specific schedule, with three distinct scheduling options available:
Monthly Backup: One full file system (directory structure) per month
Weekly Backup: One full file system (directory structure) per week
Daily Backup: One full file system (directory structure) per week with additional daily incremental backup
Uses tape archival systems connected to a backup server by differential SCSI which is in turn connected to backup network via Fast Ethernet
Backup servers run Veritas backup software. Client servers require Veritas client software.
Supports backups for MySQL, Microsoft SQL Oracle and Sybase databases with additional backup modules installed on client servers (additional fees apply)
Media is DLT tape each with 35 GB uncompressed capacity. Standard pricing includes backup of up to 10 GB of data. Additional storage is billed in minimum 10 GB increments
Requires 24 hour notice to begin the file recovery process
File recovery is performed by Konnex on an hourly fee basis at the prevailing published Konnex network administrative rate, with a minimum charge of four hours
Requires 6 hour notice to begin the file recovery process
Expedite fee is applied
